About Me
Who I Am
I’m a qualified integrative counsellor, offering affordable counselling and psychotherapy for adults; online and in-person in Trowbridge. Outside of the counselling room I enjoy long walks with my dogs, exploring new places and I particularly love seeing live music. I’m someone who appreciates humour, curiosity and connection; qualities that allow me to show up for you with authenticity and openness.
My own experience of counselling shapes the way that I work; I know what it’s like to sit in the other chair, and I hold this with great care. I have seen the value that counselling can have from both sides, as a client and a counsellor, which is why it’s important to me to offer affordable sessions. This doesn’t lessen the quality of work we do together; it simply reflects my belief that counselling should be available to those who can truly benefit from it.
How I Work
Research consistently shows that the relationship between client and counsellor is one of the strongest predictors of therapeutic change, and I believe that a meaningful relationship requires authenticity. Our sessions are very much your space, I just aim to meet you as a real person; warm, present and human, as we explore and understand your thoughts, feelings and experiences together. I’m not a silent, passive listener – I’m engaged, collaborative and curious, offering gentle challenge when it feels supportive, or when something important shows up between us.
My overall approach is rooted in hope and grounded in empathy. I’m trained in integrative counselling, which means I draw upon several theories guided by your individual needs in order to provide the best possible support. My core approach is person-centred informed by psychodynamic and transpersonal perspectives. This means our relationship and your lived experience guide the work, whilst also helping you to explore deeper emotional patterns and the broader questions of meaning, identity and connection.
I am particularly passionate about supporting women struggling with low self-esteem to discover their own self-worth, and start living a life of empowerment and self-belief. I have seen time and time again how readily we give our kindness, grace and care to others, and yet speak to ourselves in ways that we wouldn’t dream of speaking to someone that we love. It might present as people-pleasing, self-sacrificing, perhaps even avoidance, however these behaviours are so often driven by a fundamental belief that you are not good enough. I know how exhausting it is to live this way, and I also know that it can change.
About Evermore
You might be wondering, what does ‘evermore’ mean? The definition is always/continually/forever. For me, it speaks to the lasting and unwavering care, respect and acceptance I hold for the people that I have the privilege of working with. Capturing the notion of lasting change and endless opportunities for growth, it aligns strongly with my sense of perpetual hope. The poetic feel, and depth, reflects the emotional and relational depth that feel natural to me, and guide me as a counsellor. It also acknowledges that this process is not linear; the difficulties of life will persist, and so does hope.
Training & Qualifications
I have many years of experience in this field, including volunteering with Mind in Somerset and Help Counselling Services. My quaifications so far include;
- NCFE Level 2 Introduction to Counselling
- CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
- CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
- CPCAP Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
I’ve also had training in suicide awareness, somatic trauma awareness and I have a particular interest in developmental trauma and attachement.
I’m registered with the ICO for data protection, hold an enhanced DBS certificate, and I’m a BACP Registered Member. These are part of my commitment to offering a safe, ethical and trustworthy practice.
